Tyler & Paul from Economic Development

Tyler Kroeker and Paul Beckta are Senior Economists within the Chief Administrative Offices. Paul looks at big-picture trends like trade and the economy. Tyler focuses on smaller scale issues like roads and land use. Together they provide data to elected officials and the public service to inform their decision-making. While they dream about ideal data sets, they also discuss why it’s hard to measure things like "vibes." Tyler and Paul cover how Winnipeg's location affects its economy. They dig into the city's steady growth and affordable housing. Paul confirms that Winnipeggers love a deal. And Tyler caps off the interview with a handful of reasons why Winnipeg is a great place to live.

This podcast is recorded in Treaty One Territory, the home and traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Ininew, and Dakota peoples, and in the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. We acknowledge that our drinking water comes from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, in Treaty Three Territory.
