Shaun Hendy: the physicist who refused to get on a plane
Since Covid-19 struck, Auckland physicist Shaun Hendy has been constantly in the news for his work modelling the virus’s spread. But before then, he was best known for his very public refusal to get on a plane – or rather, his refusal to get on any planes at all for an entire year. He comes on the show to discuss the personal costs of climate activism, and to explain why he’s calling for the restoration of the daily train service between Auckland and Wellington.
The One Hot Minute podcast is a companion series to Stuff’s One Hot Minute video series, in which guests get just 60 seconds to deliver their big idea about climate change. Then in this podcast we dig deeper into that idea. To watch the videos, see www.stuff.co.nz/onehotminute. The series is part of Stuff’s Forever Project.
