Generating new evidence on home high-flow therapy: the HiFAE trial
Following our previous podcast, which delved into the evolution of home high-flow therapy (HFT) and its implications for patient care, Dr Maxime Patout returns to offer more insights into the topic. This time round he describes the objectives of the large HiFAE trial he’s leading to assess the benefit of HFT when initiated after a severe exacerbation of COPD. Focused on French patients with severe forms of the condition, the study – which saw its first patient enrolled in late 2022 – aims to show that using HFT in a home setting can indeed decrease both the rate of exacerbations and mortality, as well as improve quality of life and respiratory function. Listen now to find out more! Guest: Dr Maxime Patout - Hospital Pitié Salpêtrière, Faculty of Medicine, Sorbonne University, France. Host: Daniela Gautschi is ResMed’s Director Clinical Advocacy Europe, and has a passion for exploring the latest developments in the world of sleep and breathing health. Her key focus is advocating for digital health innovations to help ensure access to good quality care.
