Mary Myla Andamon: Air Quality 101 — Understanding Air Circulation and Pollution | On the House #70
The air we breathe has more of an impact on our health and well-being than you might think. In this episode of On the House, host Marie Stella is joined by construction management lecturer Mary Myla Andamon to explore practical ways to improve the quality of air at home.
Prior to joining RMIT University as a lecturer, Mary Myla Andamon served as project coordinator and sustainability researcher in an Adelaide- and Sydney-based architectural practice specializing in shopping center planning and design, as well as commercial retail architecture. Currently, she is working on a number of research projects based on monitoring and evaluating indoor environmental quality, building thermal performance and energy efficiency and assessment of urban microclimates.
In this episode, Mary Myla Andamon sheds light on the various factors that affect air circulation, and why it is so important to ensure sufficient ventilation at home. She elaborates on basic, easy-to-practice habits that contribute massively to air circulation, from using the kitchen rangehood when cooking, to switching on the bathroom exhaust fan at least a few minutes before each shower.
Together, Marie and Mary Myla Andamon weigh up the benefits and drawbacks of various air quality devices, between traditional models and UV air purifiers. So, tune in to this episode for expert insights on creating a healthier, more breathable living environment—the one you deserve.
