Magika might be the self-confessed Mr Marmite of rave, but as he says: “Love me or hate me, I rocked raves.” In this episode Adrian Goldberg talks to Magika about how the young boy from Stirchley, hooked on beats, came to MC for Carl Cox and some of the biggest names in dance music.
Getting his first big break from UB40, Aimran Majid worked tirelessly on his personal style and promoting himself. Friends helped him come up with his MC name, Magika, and he soon became well known for his crowd hyping skills. He performed with the DJ Carl Cox for 5 years during the early 1990s, a collaboration that saw Magika travel the world playing alongside the likes of The Prodigy.
