In this episode Adrian Goldberg talks to prominent music industry figure John Mostyn who has had an enviable and varied career in music. Adrian and John discuss managing The Beat and Fine Young Cannibals, helping to launch Two Tone and Ocean Colour Scene and rescuing a Birmingham music venue, and running a recording studio.
Originally from Cheshire, John moved to Birmingham in 1972 to sell furniture, and has spent most of his professional life here. He has had considerable influence in the area's music industry, reportedly bringing over £30 million into the local economy. With Mostyn as manager the Fine Young Cannibals enjoyed huge success, including a Billboard number 1 album with The Raw & the Cooked, which has been certified Platinum 11 times around the world.
