Boston is building a new legacy: Boston Legacy FC! The 15th National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) franchise will take the pitch in 2026. Head Coach Filipa Patão is excited for this new adventure here in the States and NWSL. Patão is a former player with many titles to her name before hanging up her cleats to coach. Mostly recently she managed the Portuguese club Benfica and led them to five consecutive league titles. She brings an immense amount of experience and drive with her to help build this new team and identity in Boston. Today we dive into her coaching philosophy, hopes for the roster, culture necessary to succeed and more.
