Writer/Director Kalani Hubbard

Welcome to the On Directing podcast with Adam Paul Stone. I'm your host, Adam Paul Stone. I'm super excited to be jumping to the first episode of this show where we talk about the behind-the-scenes of filmmaking and kind of cutting through the smoke and mirrors of what it's actually like to be a director and all the mental gymnastics and burdens that we deal with as directors.

In this first episode, I'm honored to bring one of my closest friends to the show, Kalani Hubbard. He's a writer and director and the co-owner of Pure Magic Pictures. Kalani's journey has taken him through writing and directing four feature films, including creating the show view and shoot with his wife, Stephanie Hubbard. In this conversation, we dive deep into Kalani's experiences as a writer-director from the spark of an idea to the challenges that he has to overcome on set. We also dive into deep what it was like to actually fully take on that role as a director and take on the title as the director as he felt such reverence for it. So let's jump into my conversation with writer-director, Kalani Hubbard.
