First respondents to the emergency had no idea that this fire would incite riots, rumours, and, now, a centuries-old ghost story. “On Delphine LaLaurie: The Mythologizing of a Murderer” is an investigation of the evolution and reception of this ghost story that revolves around the actions of enslaver and socialite Delphine LaLaurie.
