美國人重視室內的擺飾，常利用平價的石版畫、家人的照片、花、草等營造出溫馨的家庭生活氣氛。他們認為，牆上掛了東西，心裡才能踏實。為了美化環境，他們會在室內擺滿綠色植物，終年開著空調的室內四季如春，的確非常適合植物生長。在美國，喜歡園藝的人特別多，所以，如果要說「某人天生擅長園藝」，有一種幽默的說法是: have a green thumb(英式說法則是have green fingers)。

while we're here是「既然到了這裡，順便~」或「在這裡 的這段期間」的意思。中文的「在~的期間」常用while或 during 表示，while後面必須接「句子」，during 後面則接「片語」，例如:
Your boss called while you were out.
(你出去的時候，你的老闆來過電話。)
During the summer vacation， I'll go to London to study English.
(暑假期間我要去倫敦學英文。)
 
Why don't we go~?只是向對方提出建議，沒有疑問的意 思，和How about going~?的意思一樣。
I had no idea I didn't know。下面幾個例句，都是由no 所構成的否定句:
Nobody was willing to help.
(沒有人願意幫忙。)
No country is free from crime.
(沒有哪個國家沒有犯罪問題。)
