In 1993, while attending university, he participated in the university song festival with his friend 서동욱 as part of the duet group ‘전람회 (Exhibition)’ and debuted by winning both the grand prize and special award.
The following year, he released his first album 《Exhibition》 and officially began his music career.
After ‘전람회 (Exhibition)' disbanded in 1997, he continued his musical activities by forming the project group '카니발 (Carnival)' with 이적.
In 1998, he released his first solo album, elevating his name into a brand as a unique ballad singer.
He is a musician who easily handles all roles, from songwriting to composing and producing.
He has received much love for his lyrical and honest songs such as ‘기억의 습작 (Extude of Memory)’ and ‘취중진담 (Drunken Truth)’.
Though he doesn’t do much broadcasting, he often collaborates with other musicians.
He is known as an artist you have to break through ticketing to see at every concert.
