In this episode, I talk to New York Times best-selling author Elijah Wald about his book Jelly Roll Morton: Censored Songs and Hidden Histories. Elijah walks us through much of what happened during the 1938 recordings at the Library of Congress. He explores the origins of certain songs and even words from the 1890s and early 1900s. Additionally, he delves into Mamie Desdunes, Buddy Bolden, and many of the early performers from New Orleans. Check it out!
