In 2008, 39% of the global population had high cholesterol.

High cholesterol levels increase the risks of heart disease and stroke.

But nutrition researchers found good news for us.

A new study found that eating about 1/2 cup of walnuts every day for two years can lower LDL levels, known as bad cholesterol.

The study was published in the American Heart Association's flagship journal Circulation.

Walnuts are a rich source of alpha linolenic acid.

Alpha linolenic acid has been shown to decrease low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.

So, eat a balanced diet, if you're not and exercise at least 30 minutes daily.
