A gryvern— a ferocious rare creature that breathes fire and has almost impenetrable skin— is descending on the camp of the Guardians. Riding on the gryvern is one of the deadliest Descended men in the entire Emarion. Instead of fear and running for cover, there’s grim determination on the Guardians’ faces. This is why they’ve been holding the queen hostage and keeping her heavily drugged.

The guardians have gone through the trouble of obtaining centuries’ old weapons to kill the gryvern as it’s come to save its queen. They also have godstone that will kill the man slowly and painfully. No matter how much the queen begs, pleads or tries to negotiate, they don’t listen to her. They push her into the mud, crush her ribs, cut her skin open and bash her head. The worst part of everything? She’s never hurt them, doesn’t want to and has only worked to help them.
