Grace Finerman and I met on a weekend trip to Budapest when we studied abroad. After we met, we stayed in touch solely through social media, Grace was a news reporter in various markets after graduating from the University of Michigan. One day, after being used to seeing videos of Grace reporting her sweet little tushy off, I saw a video of her passing out samples in a New York City park. I literally was like … is that Grace? WTF is she passing out? Turns out after cooking to pass time, get healthy and provide herself entertainment during her news days, she locked in a recipe for a chocolate caramel date snack that would eventually be called Date Smarter. The video was of Grace giving out samples to people in parks, trying to get them to try her snacks. Little did she know, 3+ years later she is in Erewhon, Shop Rite, Fairway Markets, Happier Grocery, more, and growing… Grace is a hoot to talk to, and she has an incredible entrepreneurial spirit.
