#006 - Corie Mapp is a True Hero! Para-Bobsleigh Champion

Join us for an inspiring and heartwarming interview with a true champion, Corie Mapp. In this episode of 'Not Fazed With Faye,' Corie shares his incredible journey of resilience, faith, and determination in the face of adversity. From his experiences on the battlefield to becoming a European Para-Bobsleigh Champion, to being the first Barbadian to ride on the Queen's Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour), Cori's story will leave you feeling empowered and motivated to live life as a champion.

Reflecting on our conversation, I'm in awe of his strength as he not only overcame the difficulties of his accident, but succeeds in everything he puts his mind to. And his focus on faith and family aligns so closely to my own beliefs. I feel so honoured to have had him as a guest and to share him with you.

Corie Miguel Mapp, born in 1978 in Bridgetown, Barbados, is an international para-athlete and a former Lance Corporal in The Life Guards, the senior regiment of the Household Cavalry and the British Army. In 2020, he became Britain’s first European Champion in Para Bobsleigh, having previously won the Para bobsleigh World Cup. Corie’s journey took a remarkable turn when, during active duty in Afghanistan in 2010, he lost both legs below the knee due to an explosive device. Despite this life-changing injury, he persevered and learned to walk on prosthetic legs within a month. Corie also competed in athletics and sitting volleyball for the British Army in various games, including the Invictus Games. His autobiography, ā€œBlack Ice,ā€ co-authored with military historian Christopher Joll, was published in October 20211. "His story exemplifies resilience, determination, and the power of sports recovery" - Help For Heroes
