Tora! Tora! Tora! is a 1970 movie about the Japanese air raid on Pearl Harbor, and the series of American blunders that aggravated its effectiveness. Tora! Tora! Tora! has been possibly the most accurate portrayal of the attack at Pearl Harbor that our War on Film crew has viewed so far. Today we honor Navy Ensign Herbert C. Jones who was on board the US California during the Pearl Harbor attack. Herbert was helping load manual ammunition when an explosion severely injured him and trapped his fellow shipmates. Orders were then given to abandon ship. Unable to flee he demanded they leave him there while they saved themselves. In March 1942, Jones posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his bravery and sacrifice.
