LIGHTS! CAMERA! FICTION! Avishai and Michal go off-script with 2000's Shadow of the Vampire, written by Steven Katz and directed by the determinedly weird E. Elias Merhige. The film reimagines the true story behind the production of the original 1922 Nosferatu as a cautionary tale of ambition and the extremes of artistic integrity; Willem Dafoe will have you screaming (with laughter) as Count Orlock, but it might be John Malkovitch as F.W. Murnau who ends up really bringing the scares! Plus: Goooooood pussy.
Nosferatuesdays is hosted by Michal Schick and Avishai Weinberger, and edited and produced by Jamie Blumberg.
