Today we are learning about the last things Jesus did on earth to show his great love for us! Parents, want to keep talking? Here are some ideas:
Ask: What happened to Jesus in this Bible story? (Jesus had dinner with his friends, prayed in a garden and died on a cross) Why did Jesus die? (He died for our sins) How did Jesus show his love for us? (By dying for our sins) Sing Jesus Loves Me (ages 2-5)
If you didn't know how it was going to turn out, this would be the saddest chapter of The Story. A lot of terrible things happened to Jesus. He was arrested, his friends let him down, and he was beaten and killed. When Jesus asked his disciples to pray for him, they fell asleep instead. Talk about a time that your friends let you down. Why is it so hard to stay awake sometimes when you're praying at night? Will Jesus ever let you down? Why? (ages 6-9)
In a poignant act of service, Jesus washes the disciples' feet at the Last Supper. He was the ultimate leader and the ultimate servant. What most surprises you about Jesus washing his disciples' feet? Do you think it is important for leaders to show they love and care for the people they're leading? What are some other ways that Jesus showed the disciples that he loved them? (ages 10-12)
