Kimberly Goh on No Language Barriers - From Internationals to Integrals

“Within that (first) five minutes of meeting someone, you can already make an impact and vice versa.” — Kimberley Goh (Founder of Migrant Professional Network)

Transitioning from being merely an international individual to becoming an integral part of a new community and professional sphere in a foreign country requires transformation on multiple fronts, extending far beyond proficiency in a dominant language. From initial experiences in networking to the founding of a migrant network that connected over 600 participants from 50+ countries in its inaugural year, the journey of our guest exemplifies the power of inclusive multicultural networking. Join us as we explore this transformative journey with Kimberly Goh, and uncover the secrets of networking as a dynamic and rewarding journey in our interconnected world.

Kimberly's journey in Australia began as an international student from Malaysia, where she learned the importance of going the extra mile to stand out in the competitive job market. Engaging in mentorship programs, internships, and networking events, she secured her first role organising wellbeing and resilience training, honing her resilience skills in the process.

Transitioning to the international education sector, Kimberly spent 6.5 years working as a Career Advisor witnessing the struggles of international students and migrants in finding employment and forming connections. Motivated by this, she founded the Migrant Women Professional Network upon returning from maternity leave, aiming to empower migrant women through connections and professional development by combining what she loved, organising events and helping people. Since starting in January 2023, she's had monthly events and has engaged with over 600 participants from 50+ countries.

(Follow Kimberly on LindedIn and her work at Migrant Women Professional Network )
