“You don’t need to be someone in order to do something.” —Bonnie CHi
Do you ever feel your English is not as good in reality compared to your education and how others typically perceive you based on your grades and what you have already achieved in an English-speaking environment?
We are all not immune to imposter syndrome and in and beyond the use of a foreign language, each of us may be fighting an inner battle usually unknown to others, however competent and confident we usually appear in front of them. In the same context, there is a common notion that confidence comes from familiarity. From my experience, aside from deliberate practice in settings unfamiliar to us, we can also gain more confidence with the reference of the experience and lessons from other people similar to us.
In this spirit, I am pleased to present the first guest interview on No Language Barriers in 2024, with a Multilingual Connector who speak more than 10 language and to earn her place on this podcast, has re-established herself in several continents and cultural landscapes, leveraged such experience to emerge as a career strategist and panellist as a recent migrant in Australia. She is Bonnie Chi.

She’s now working as an Associate Director at NAB & focusing on their Third-party service suppliers’ compliant in Cyber security. She is driven to uplift our next-gen workforce and amplify barefoot kick-starters’ inner strength and potential – as an emerging, unconventional Career Strategist.
Facing countless rejections and visa hurdles when she returned to Australia in 2017 for her second master degree, indeed it took a long way for her to bounce back stronger in resilience, to establish her career foundation and head towards where she landed today. Proudly and humbly flourishing in adversity and striving to set a precedent, Bonnie first set her foot at the doorstep with a Big 4 bank by simply knocking on doors. (whilst still on Student Visa)
