In this episode, Rachael Lomax, deputy manager of a care home in Edgware, and Matthew Nye, NHS England’s regional director for digital transformation, discuss the impact that remote monitoring technology is having across London’s care homes, reflecting on the implementation journey and what the future may hold.
Devices such as the Whzan “Blue Box” allow care home staff to take a range of clinical readings and observations to improve the way they monitor residents’ health, enabling them to alert health professionals to early signs of deterioration while providing added reassurance to residents and families.
Plans to expand the use of these kinds of technologies across London are progressing quickly, with nearly half of the capital’s care homes set to be using similar devices by the end of the year. It means the way our care homes protect residents’ health may soon take a big leap forward, enabled by these smart technologies.
