We discuss the difference in the latest statistics about rescue cats and dogs in Japan and Australia and some of the different ways they deal with strays.
The picture is of Ann, who was taken in for foster care by Jimi.
Of all the dogs that people take care of in Japan, 64% of them come from pet stores. Just over 6% of dogs that are taken to a pound or rescue centre go to a foster home. Thankfully though the number of cats and dogs killed by the government is decreasing. But can we do more?
We think showing our own children how to treat animals is something we all need to do and there are a lot of lessons to be learnt by looking at the data first.
In this episode we looked at data from the Japan Ministry of Environment and the RSPCA in Australia.
