NYC's Autumn Adventures - Culture, Cuisine, and Can't-Miss Events!
Welcome to “Things to Do in New York City” with your globe-trotting pal Oly Bennet! It's Sunday, November 9, 2025, and the Big Apple’s buzzing like a subway car at rush hour. Right now, it’s brisk and bright—classic autumn in New York, perfect for scarf-wearing, park-strolling, and latte-sipping. The leaves are in serious style mode, the city feels electric, and there’s a full lineup of events giving the city that famous unstoppable energy.

Today, New York wakes up to a wild mix of culture and adventure. First up, the legendary Big Apple Circus is back in Industry City, Brooklyn, running from 11 am and again at 2:30 and 6 pm—whether you’re a kid or just a grown-up who loves clowns and acrobatics, this one’s a must. Over in Manhattan, the National Arts Club has its Fall Exhibitions open from 10 am to 3 pm, perfect for art lovers who want some gallery magic with brunch. If you’re more into funky shopping, A Current Affair Pop Up Vintage Marketplace continues at Industry City from noon to 6 pm, featuring rare gems and retro treasures—Vogue even called this a cult shopping event, so bring your best bargain-hunting skills.

Feeling musical? Head to Lincoln Center for jazz, drama, and classical performances throughout the day. From the Juilliard Jazz Ensembles celebrating blues legend Bessie Smith at 4 pm, to Lincoln Center Theater’s “Ragtime” musical and comedy with Vir Das at LCT3, there’s something for every taste. Families will love the gardening and kitchen botany classes at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, where you can learn to grow herbs and whip up botanical treats—even if you think your plant skills are as non-existent as a Mets playoff run!

Now, for a slice of today’s local news. NYC’s dining scene just leveled up—there’s buzz about a new pizza spot opening in the East Village serving Roman-style pies that are thinner than a subway railing. MTA has announced maintenance along the N and R trains near Sunset Park, so expect some delays and consider taking the D train if you’re heading to Industry City. The city’s been piloting extra bike lanes along Broadway, making it easier to zip through Manhattan like a courier (but with less shouting).

Can’t decide what to do? Do them all! Brave the big attractions like Central Park—it’s a photo-op paradise with autumn colors everywhere. Try Roosevelt Island for skyline selfies and tram rides that feel straight out of a superhero movie. For hidden gems, track down Pomander Walk—a fairy-tale secret street on the Upper West Side that’ll make you believe NYC has actual magic mixed with its hustle.

Fun fact—if you want to blend in like a true local, absolutely do NOT make eye contact on the subway. But you can absolutely wear Yankees gear and everyone will nod in approval, even if you don’t know the starting lineup.

Tomorrow is shaping up to be just as epic, with even more concerts, pop-up festivals, and the Radio City Rockettes threatening to kick your socks off. Don’t miss out—tune in for all the wild, wonderful things New York has in store.
