His institute is simultaneously researching 70-80 projects, including solutions for irrigation-free cotton cultivation and the filtration of microplastics using sound waves. Edwin and his scientists are primarily focused on bringing these solutions to the market quickly and scaling them to address the diverse challenges in the apparel industry. Why do we care about PFAS? PFAS have recently been making headlines under the synonym of "Forever Chemicals." They are chemical compounds used in outdoor products to provide important properties such as water, oil, and dirt repellency. The majority of PFASs are non-degradable or eventually transform into stable products that are still PFAS and can cause harm to the environment and human health. Today, the textile industry is under pressure from both regulatory bodies and conscientious customers to replace these hazardous chemicals with alternative or substitute products with less environmental impact.
