Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Fifth-Generation Mariachi Musician Alvaro Paulino Jr. and Dynamic Singer & Pianist Linda EPO. We talk about the upcoming MexFest on November 1, 2025, at Flushing Town Hall, celebrating Día de los Muertos with music, art, and culture.
This inaugural festival honors Mexican art, community, and remembrance — featuring exhibitions, participatory workshops, storytelling, and a vibrant concert led by Linda EPO and Alvaro Paulino Jr.
Linda, a Queens native, delivers transcendent performances that blur cultural lines with her dynamic stage energy. Alvaro continues his family’s legacy as the Musical Director of Mariachi Tapatío de Alvaro, carrying forward a New York mariachi tradition begun in 1983 by his father from Puebla, Mexico.
