20: Artist Joe Skaff Recommends That You try Forgery

I can honestly say that without Joe Skaff this podcast might not exist.  While this podcast was in development, Joe told me that he wanted to hear it.  I sent him a rough draft of the first episode and he gave me some very useful constructive criticism that helped to mold the show and helped to get the show off the ground.  What also came up in that conversation was that Joe was an artist himself.  I never knew that and we talked about someday having him on the podcast.

I thought that may be a good idea, but what I didn't count on was how knowledgable, passionate, and downright charming Joe was when he came on.  I should have known, because Joe is always delightful.  Joe talks about how he's been an artist since he was a child and how he got the artistry bug from his mother.  He talks about how his mother didn't let her disability hinder art, and how the smell of the oil she mixed with the paint still makes him nostalgic.  He talks about how he loves to share his passion for art with his daughter and also his young grandchildren and goes on a minor rant about how people always say they can't draw, but that he believe that anyone can learn to draw.    "If you can see it, if you can picture it, you can draw it" he said over and over in our interview, and by the end, I believed him!
