012 - Josh Butler's journey to Balance, New Zealand, and new musical frontiers

Josh Butler has already had a storied career, in the short number of years since he burst on the scene back in 2013 when his track 'Got A Feeling' took his career, and the careers of Bontan and Pleasurekraft, to the next level (fun fact, the Bontan Remix / Pleasurekraft Edit is still to this day the 9th highest ranked track of all time on Beatport, accoring to Beatstats).

It feels like Josh has been with us for decades already - his sound is timeless and yet contemporary, and also incredibly flexible, as Josh has a number projects, exploring a number of different genres

On this episode of Beyond The Studio, Josh and Paul get together to talk about Josh's upbringing in New Zealand, and just how reality bending moving from the UK to NZ in the middle of a global pandemic has been. Josh talks about the scene in New Zealand and how its emerging out of the pandemic with some really exciting potential for the future for the House & Techno scene there. Paul and Josh also discover their mutual love for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and go in depth about josh's back injury, his road to recovery, and finding better balance between living on the road, touring the world, and finding some time to pause and enjoy it all.
