Today we will be discussing the disappearance of the Roanoke Colony. In the late 1500s 120 English settlers landed on the island of Roanoke, off the coast of North Carolina. Governor John White left about a month later to gather supplies. When he returned, the town had been abandoned. The only clues was the word "Croatoan" carved into a fence post and the word "Cro" carved into a nearby tree. What happened to the settlers? We'll discuss 5 popular theories ranging from practical to koo koo for coco puffs! ENJOY!
