In this podcast, Doug McDonald interviews smart people, funny people, creative people, and other types of people. And sometimes he doesn‘t interview anybody at all! Sometimes it‘s funny, sometimes it‘s educational. And SOMETIMES it‘s both.

In this episode, I am joined by writer, lawyer, Navy veteran, and philosopher Brian Plemmons to discuss building your own philosophy, the concept of identity, and what it means to quit things that are wrong for you in a world that says you shouldn't quit anything. Brian tells me the story of choosing to end his Navy SEALS training and how it changed the trajectory of his life, as well as his stories of growing up in Appalachia and what his life has taught him culturally and psychologically. We also dive into the almost impossible-to-define term of masculinity and what it truly means to contribute to the world in a meaningful and fulfilling way.
