Good morning, viewers. You’re watching SBS News with me, Mufidah Yumna. We will bring you the most updated news from all around the world.
Today's news is about the number of spectators that will be permitted at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Venues.
After month of controversy and hostile, public debate organizers of the 2020 at tokyo olympics have just announced a cap on the number of spectators for each venue. This comes just days after experts warned that holding the event without fans was the safest option during the covid-19 pandemic. Organizers announced a cap of 10,000 spectators for each venue is set at 50% of the venue's capacity. The organizers said that overseas spectators are already banned and only domestic fans could attend. Fans will not be allowed to shout or speak loudly, and must wear face masks at all times while in venues. The opening ceremony is a month from now but the spectator limit could be further reduce from the 12th of July that's if coronavirus infections surged. The Olympics scheduled to begin on 23rd of July, while the Paralympics follow a month later, from 24 August.
