Hello everyone welcome to MY Podcast!
Today I'm gonna sing two songs. The First Song is Mind Is A Prison By Alec Benjamin.
I don't live in California
I'll inform you, that's not where I reside
I'm just a tenant payin' rent inside this body and I...
Got two windows
And those windows, well, I call them my eyes
I'm just goin' where the wind blows
I don't get to decide
Sometimes I think too much
Yeah, I get so caught up
I'm always stuck in my head
I wish I could escape
I tried to yesterday
Took all the sheets off my bed
Then I tied up my linen
With five strips of ribbon I found
Scaled the side of the buildin'
I ran to the hills 'til they found me
And they put me back in my cell
All by myself
Alone with my thoughts again
Guess my mind is a prison
And I'm never gonna get out
And now lets talk about the song. In this song Alec sings about being stuck in his head with his thoughts. In this song, Alec Benjamin is able to visualize himself inside in his head. He sees his physical body as a mere carcass for carrying the real ‘him’ inside. What makes a person who he is, is really the map of his mind. Exploring your own mind can be fun. But to see it as a prison, is quite the disaster. My experience after singing this song is that this song is very related to life. How sometimes we think too much without doing. Our minds are like imprisoning us. It's kinda sad experience to me. Feeling empty and lonely.
The next song is Speechless by Naomi Scott.
Here comes a wave
Meant to wash me away
A tide that is taking me under
Swallowing sand
Left with nothing to say
My voice drowned out in the thunder
But I won't cry
And I won't start to crumble
Whenever they try
To shut me or cut me down
I won't be silenced
You can't keep me quiet
Won't tremble when you try it
All I know is I won't go speechless
'Cause I'll breathe
When they try to suffocate me
Don't you underestimate me
'Cause I know that I won't go speechless
And now lets talk about the song. This song is about female empowerment. It tells the story of Princess Jasmine who is detained by the new sultan of Agrabah, Jafar. The sultan is a dictator who belittles Princess Jasmine's opinion. This time Princess Jasmine decided not to remain silent and chose to be honest about her thoughts and opinions. She would not allow her kingdom to be taken over by someone like Jafar. My experience after singing this song is that I can't stop singing. This song is very strong in terms of music, lyrics, meaning, tone of voice, singer and the story behind it. I can feel the confidence, the spirit to get up and not give up on fate. This song is very addictive and easy listening.
