There Is So Much To Talk About With Minister Glen Wilson

I was humbled and honored to get a few minutes to talk with Min. Glen Wilson. Min. Wilson is a man of wisdom, intentionality, truth, and integrity. This is a conversation that I will always remember, in this candid conversation Min. Wilson discusses his parental upbringing, his battle with drug addiction, how he maintains recovery, his relationship with God, and his hope for the world.

Born in Philadelphia to Dr. Wade and Naomi Wilson who are both deceased. Min. Wilson was schooled primarily in Philadelphia schools and graduated high school in the suburbs. He graduated from Cheyney State College( now University) in 1970.

After graduation, Min. Wilson taught various grades and in several school districts from 1970-1987. Since recovery, he's worked as an outpatient drug and alcohol counselor, a research technician for a Ph.D studying the risk behaviors for contracting HIV by injection drug users, an investigator of child sexual abuse allegations for DHS, and now a Family Advocate at The Philadelphia Children’s Alliance for children and families who are victims of sexual abuse.

Min. Wilson began my relationship with Jesus at Emmanuel Institutional Baptist Church in 1993 under the tutelage of Pastor Daniels. He allowed me to teach in various settings in the church. In 2001, Min. Wilson and his wife Karen joined Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church under Rev Dr. Alyn E Waller. Min. Wilson answered the call into ministry in 2003. He serves on the prison Ministry and teaches adult Sunday School classes at Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Min. Wilson served on the subcommittee of The Mayor of Philadelphia Opioid Task Force.

He is a member of Bryn Mawr College’s Institutional Review Board, serves as a police chaplain in the 19thDistrict, and serves as a  Community Ambassador for the FBI, DEA, and HSI as a graduate of their Community Academies.

Min. Wilson and his lovely wife Karen have been married for 23 years. They have a blended family of four children, Edwina and Gerry ( deceased), and Bill and his wife Ali. We have 6 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
