Muslim Birthwork with Doula Alqabalia
Doula Alqabalia
13 episodes
A series of unique interviews and recounts providing inspirational insight into pregnancy, birth and beyond within the Muslim community. Hosted by Amy, the face behind Doula Alqabalia; a Muslimah Birthworker currently based in the East Midlands, UK. The series sets out to shed light upon the misconstrued conceptions, assumptions and discrimination that Muslim women and their families face in everyday life. The trials and struggles that Muslim people face during the antenatal, birth and postnatal period are highlighted, whether they opt in for access to the maternity services, or not, as the case may be! In a time when physiological birth and traditional practices and values around birth are being dissolved, we have a duty to stand up and reclaim our birth rights for both our women and children. Providing first-hand information and experiences as an actively involved Birth and Postpartum Doula and Holistic Birthkeeper, Amy brings a raw, real and radical Muslim perspective to the scene.
