In this episode, we sit down with Alastair Blyth — architect, researcher, and thought leader on how learning environments and professional practice shape the future of architecture.
Alastair is Assistant Head of School, School of Architecture and Cities, and School Director of Professionalism, Ethics and Practice at the University of Westminster. He also serves as Chair of the DCDI College Research and Knowledge Exchange Ethics Committee. Beyond academia, his work spans global impact: consultant to the World Bank, member of the University of Melbourne Academic Alliance team on Innovative Learning Environments + Student Engagement, and lead researcher on the Project on Architectural Student Employment Outcomes (PASEO).
Before joining Westminster, Alastair worked as an analyst at the OECD, advising governments on education, design, and policy for learning environments — with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and higher education policy.
This conversation goes deep into the intersections of design, research, and policy — unpacking how the spaces we create influence learning, how professional practice is evolving, and what the future looks like for early-career architects worldwide.
Tune in for insights that sit at the crossroads of architecture, education, and global policy.
