Good luck trying to get a definitive answer to what mod jazz is. It's like the famous comment by US Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart when asked to define what obscenity is: "I know it when I see it." Well that's me with mod jazz folks, I know it when I hear it. Maybe soul jazz is a better shorthand term, this music certainly has a lot of soul to it. All I can do is play the music for you and let you be swept away by it.
