Christopher Nolan fans rejoice! Oppenheimer has hit theaters and hit them in a big way. Oppenheimer has exceeded projections with a five-day global box office number that has already surpassed 200 million. Announced in September of 2021 after a studio bidding war had taken place, Oppenheimer is Nolan’s 12th film. Oppenheimer tells the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in developing the atomic bomb. Played by Cillian Murphy, Oppenheimer is a deep dive into this man’s history and psyche before and after the development of the atomic bomb.
Shot without the use of CGI and available in IMAX, Oppenheimer is a film that is not only visually stunning but also mixed with a beautifully paired score. Along with Cillian Murphy, the cast is one of the most talented ensembles we’ve seen. The cast of Oppenheimer includes Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Josh Hartnett, Jason Clarke, Dane DeHaan, Rami Malek, Casey Affleck, and Alden Ehrenreich.
With a handful of drama surrounding the release of this movie, Oppenheimer is one of the best movies to come out in the last ten years. One criticism around the social media sphere was that the Oppenheimer movie glorifies the atomic bomb. This movie does not “Hollywoodize” Robert Oppenheimer or make him appear in a better light than the unfortunate life that he lived. This is a must-see if you’re a cinema fan and want to experience a visually stunning movie.
