Welcome to Movie Night! Today, I sat down with my friend, Geoffrey Criner and watched his favorite movie with him: 2019’s Knives Out. Directed by Rian Johnson, and starring Daniel Craig and Ana de Armas, Knives Out is a throwback to classic whodunit mysteries, updated for a modern audience. After private investigator Benoit Blanc is hired to investigate the death of famed author, Harlan Thrombey, everyone in the wacky extended family is labelled as a suspect. At the center of the investigation is Marta Cabrera, Thrombey’s nurse, who can’t tell a lie without vomiting. As such, Blanc decides to use her valuable tell in the investigation. However, Marta might know more than she’s letting on. It all results in an intricately woven narrative that will keep you on your toes for the entire runtime.
