Welcome to Movie Night! Today, I sat down with my friend, Jordan Moore and watched his favorite movie with him: 2014’s Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). Directed by Alejandro Inarritu, and starring Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, and Emma Stone, Birdman follows has-been superhero actor Riggan Thompson as he attempts to rekindle his public image by writing, directing, and starring in a high-brow Broadway play. However, it’s a lot harder than it appears. He’s surrounded by problems, both personal and professional, which creates a mental illness that manifests itself as Birdman’s voice inside Riggan’s head. An intriguing story backed up by creative camerawork and a very unique score, Birdman is a journey of self-realization, something we all must do eventually in our own lives. Join myself, Tyler Marston, and Jordan as we discuss this Academy Award Best Picture winner on tonight’s Movie Night!
