If you didn’t already know, Mousai actually translates from a Greek word, meaning the muses of the creative arts. This week, you’ll meet multidisciplinary artist Catharina Suleiman. With a poetic narrative, often political, she tells stories about memories, fights and archetypes of the feminine through photography, video performance, stencil, painting, embroidery, engraving, writing, sculpture, natural materials and paints. Today, we discuss how her art gives a voice to the divine feminine, metro materials and bio art, the inherent connection women have with Mother nature, and her projects such as “Uterus” and “The Rock” - and much more.
