A philosophical essay on how power is often perceived and used in our society and depicted in modern media, for better or for worse. Using clips from Bill Burr, Patrice O'Neal, and Captain America to illustrate the point, tonight we look deeper into man vs. his (or her) constant strive for power, whether it's theirs or someone else's.
The easiest part of your diet to change is the time. Is simply skipping breakfast the secret to increasing growth hormone and becoming a shredded greek deity? Or is this just something the bros made up to try to sell programs? Find out the positives and the negatives of the trendiest diet on the market right now as we give our own experiences with our own advice that we've learned over the years.
How does stoicism affect the way you approach lifting, or any other exercise? How does stoicism apply to your life? Thinking about death is actually a useful tool to making your life better, in more ways than one. Join Chris and Tristan as they battle their way through realizing that life ends and they have to make the best of it.
Tristan and Chris embarked on a journey recently. Not a physical one, but a mental one. The mindset and philosophies of stoicism were integrated into their lives in a lot of different ways, and there were a ton of lessons to be learned. From fixing lawn mowers to keeping your patience about moving troubles, stoicism paved a new mentality for the both of them.
In the third episode of Meet the Guinea Pigs, this week Tristan and Chris go on an adventure through the game of chess. Tristan, who had never played chess before in his life, had to learn how the pieces work and the general beginner things about the game. Chris had only played when he was younger and just spent the three weeks learning more strategy and about the community. Make sure to check out the game we play against each other on our YouTube channel to find out who wins!
Episode 2 of the new season "Meet the Guinea Pigs" where we experiment with doing different things and accepting new ways of life, the latest one being listening to two new albums every single day. Since Tristan isn't much of an album person (more a song person) this was a good experience for him, and it's a very good introduction to progressive music/metal music for a newbie.
We're back! In the beginning of season three we will be covering Tristan's favorite topic: movies. Tristan picked out seven essential movies that every person should see in their lives, and Chris had to watch them (for better or for worse). Luckily you get to hear an up close and personal review of each movie by Chris, and hear Tristan's reasons for why they're such important movies.
Is it more beneficial to your training to train specifically for size or specifically for strength? The different methods vary in many ways but we way find that they overlap more than they differ. It's much more effective to use a mixture of both, just as every experienced lifter does.
Child safety legislation like the Flores Settlement and others actually hurt children more than they help them. When children are being used as a bargaining chip to get out of jail free then maybe we should reconsider how our system works. Often we find that legislation to help people merely gets taken advantage of. Another talking point from the left: walls don't work. This is incorrect. Despite what you think about Donald Trump, there have been countless instances of walls and borders and fences that have 100% gotten the job done and virtually halted all immigration at the border, and some of them are in other countries.
Should we hate rich people? Should we frown upon the poor and tell them to work harder? Can we find a middle ground? Does Jeff Bezos deserve all of his millions, and if not then why? Here we respond to Steven Crowder's snarkiness, we talk about taxes and the government, what it's like to work retail/crummy jobs, and the eternal question about what a living wage really is.
The age old battle of the generations. Who is worse, the entitled millennials with their $5 coffees and lack of commitment, or the rich boomers with their disgust for anyone lacking the proper bootstraps? While Chris starts out accusatory and Tristan as usual blames the government, we try to dive deeper into the main reason why millennials are so messed up, and why traditional families are the most important factor in our modern age.
Is there really any reason to compare them? No, and that's why we're doing it. There has been far too much talk about pay gaps, physical differences between men and women, and all sorts of unnecessary hatred over the game of soccer. Conservatives hate Megan Rapinoe because she's disrespectful to the president, trans men and women want in on the fun as well, and it's all just a big mess. how do we make sense of it all? Could Serena Williams hold her own against Roger Federer? Does it even matter?
If you're ever wondering whether you should keep going to your local gym and paying a monthly fee or if you should just bite the bullet and buy everything yourself, we answer all of those questions for you here. Chris, a huge fan of home gyms due to convenience and long term economics, rattles off some cheap but nice equipment you can buy to get yourself started, and even calculates how long it would take to start being cheaper compared to a commercial alternative. Tristan, who has always gone to commercial gyms, gives you a guide on how to tell if your gym is of a high quality or not.
Happy July 4th to all, as we kick off the first Democratic Debates and we start picking the favorites. As two conservatives, it's our job to break down who is bringing the most logical package to the table, and most of all, will they be able to beat Trump? Find out why the left is moving even lefter, why Kamala Harris keeps race baiting, and why Joe Biden is on the way out, all in the span of an hour.
We brought Stripey back! This time, your friendly neighborhood furry is getting drunk with the boys (and girl). In the face-off that nobody asked for but everybody wanted, we compare and contrast craft beer/microbrews with cheap gas station forties. And yes, both are consumed during the entirety of the episode, so you get a live listening experience with burping ASMR.
Taking a break from politics, it's time to eat some cheap, greasy, amazing fast food. After driving for two hours, we were finally able to get both Hardees and Cookout and make it back in time to eat it all in one sitting. The comparison is who has the better: standard burger, fries, and chocolate milkshake. For those of you who think cheap North Carolina-based fast food is gross: kindly leave.
As the sequel to our Automation episode, we had to talk about UBI. We know WHY it's happening, it's just whether or not it's actually able to work that is the issue. Not only that, but what does Andrew Yang bring to the table, and why is #YangGang so oppressively popular on the Internet, to the point of silencing most conservative voices? What are his other policies, and why is nobody talking about them? We answer all of these questions in great detail, featuring the most research either of us have done for an episode to date.
Tristan (as the free market absolutist) believes that the government should be interfering less with matters of the economy and the people, but Chris (reluctantly) is forced to disagree in his worries of a rise in depression and hopelessness. Can the two reach an agreement and perhaps come up with a solution for the greatly expanding prospect of millions of jobs snuffed out in a matter of decades?
Recently an entire slew of conservative big brains got banned from Facebook, and yet again conservatives are mad about it. But what is the next step? Sure, we whine and complain about the unjust monsters of social media, but we aren't using our power to our full potential. Today we talk about the morals of social media censorship and the best ways to combat it in the modern era.
Forgive and forget? Or die by the hand of the mob? Today Tristan and Chris heatedly discuss three different important cases, mostly the James Gunn case, and try to dissect whether or not them firing (and then rehiring) Gunn was a wise choice or a bad one. The topic then moves on to whether or not we should trust the public/media to be the judge, jury, and executioner or if we should put a social limit on jokes and their offensiveness.
