This is the podcast for the Australian Historic Road and Racing community covering grass roots events and racing!

There is a thriving community of owners of classic and historic vehicles - including veteran and vintage cars. There is also a strong racing community through various clubs and associations. This podcast will showcase and highlight the amazing people, vehicles and events in Australia.

I'm Stephen Wells, I've been involved in this community for decades (!) through clubs in Australia and the UK. I am an alumni of the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School at Snetterton Circuit in the UK and have organised major events and club runs over the years including being President or Vice President of many.

Motoring Weekly has been delivering content since 2008 either as a podcast or long-form articles. It took a hiatus in 2020 and is now back to support a great community.

Listen to interviews with:

  • Club racers,
  • Car owners,
  • Concours judges,
  • Club members,
  • Event organisers,
  • Restoration specialists and engineers.

Ep 173 AMHF David Burrell Journalist

Episode 173 Australian Motor Heritage Foundation - David Burrell.

This is another interview from the series recorded earlier in the year with volunteers from the Australian Motor Heritage Foundation. I recorded the series at their headquarters on the outer edge of Sydney Motorsports Park at Eastern Creek.

This interview is with David Burrell, an author and journalist who talks about Herbert Thomson, the creator of what is believed to be Australia's first car - a 2 cylinder steam powered vehicle. We also talk about the Foundation and the importance to the community in retaining the history and heritage of the local automotive industry.
