If you’re a small business owner AND looking for ways to boost online engagement, stop scrolling. This episode’s for you. This week I chat with @juliareneeconsulting, a history grad turned self-taught SEO and Pinterest pro, to unpack all things working-mom life, what it’s like to ditch the 9-5 for freelance freedom, and why Pinterest + SEO are the quiet power duo every small business owner needs. Julia went from medieval manuscripts to mastering SEO (yes, you read that right) and made the transition very seamlessly and serendipitously.
Some of my favorite key takeaways:
- Screen time is a tool!!! And so are stools (with straps #safety)
- How to create content that actually works
- Small biz hacks for Pinterest
- Small team = big focus
- Growth in all seasons - from diapers to deadlines
- Knowing you’re core competency (and client)
Who said history majors can’t rule the internet?

Think mentorship is just about coffee chats and LinkedIn endorsements? Think again. In this week's episode, I unpack the real magic of mentorship - the good, the awkward, and the "wait, you're mentoring me?" moments.
I'm sharing a few stories about how mentorship showed up for me in unexpected ways - sometimes it was a boss, sometimes it was a peer, sometimes it was someone who didn’t even realize they were mentoring me. I'm introducing some characters who had a MAJOR influence on my career - each at very different junctures - and how I serendipitously (and unexpectedly) met them all. The mentors in my life all fundamentally shaped my career in both big and small ways. And the truth is I wouldn't be where I am today if I didn't meet them.
If you’ve ever had someone believe in you before you believed in yourself - or you want to be that person for someone else - this one’s for you.
Key takeaways:
- Mentorship is essential for professional growth.

- It's important to ask questions and learn from others.
- Consider business coaching for further growth.

We've all heard of mom guilt. What about friend guilt? I'm sharing my thoughts on my (second) favorite F word: friendships.
Let's discuss how freaking COMPLICATED adult friendships are, especially as parents with tiny humans who command our schedules. Let's reflect on our real life responsibilities/priorities and the crushing guilt that we experience when friendship falls by the wayside, especially when we feel like we're fumbling the ball.
This week I'm giving everyone permission to embrace the comical messiness of adult friendships and show up as they are. Friendships ebb and flow, but the real ones encourage flexibility, honesty, and transparency (and continue to grow through it all). May this 10-min reminder benefit you, me, and everyone else who is navigating friendship as an adult.
Key takeaways:
- Friendship is often overlooked in adulthood due to responsibilities.
- It's okay for friendships to change and evolve over time.
- Guilt can accompany the inability to maintain friendships.
- Making an effort, even if small, is still valuable in friendships.
- Flexibility is key in adult friendships.
- Prioritizing family and self-care is essential.
- Real friends understand and support each other's life changes.
- Friendships can still be meaningful without frequent meetups.
- It's important to celebrate small victories in maintaining friendships.
- Showing up authentically strengthens friendships.

Did you ever sit down with someone to chat thinking it will be brief, only to look at the clock and realize a whole HOUR has passed?!? Jessi Sheridan and I sat down for my FIRST EVER GUEST EPISODE this week to talk boundary setting, people pleasing, and creating a life by design. Needless to say, we volleyed some relatable, inspiring, and humbling convo.
Welcome Jessi Sheridan, founder of Habituelle. And yes - I realized after the recording that I mispronounce the name several times in the episode. If you know me, you know I have my own vernacular sometimes. Habituelle is pronounced like the word habitual FWIW.
We discuss the toxicity of hustle culture, embracing the word “no,” and recovering from the people pleasing plague (yes, it’s possible). Jessi shares her journey of launching Habituelle, a storytelling platform for women, and emphasizes the importance of community among women. Our conversation delves into the history of people pleasing, the sheer necessity of setting boundaries, and the overarching impact of coaching in personal and professional growth. Jessi encourages listeners to design their lives intentionally… and to embrace the messy middle of personal development! I call it “the shit,” but she reframes it ever so eloquently.

I flipped on the explicit settings for this one because I got a little ~ passionate ~ on this week’s episode.
I’m sharing some advice I wish I gave myself (or received) sooner as a brand new mom. Chores? Can wait. Solo drive to Starbs? Take it. Binge watching your favorite TV show while your sleepy potato newborn naps? Do it (especially because you won’t get to do it with your second kid). The truth is, I didn’t realize how *much* I struggled with the postpartum work-life power balance. I came home from giving birth (h/t to all of my fellow cesarean mamas). I dove right back into my routines and rituals AND expected them to be totally sustainable WHILE running on fumes. Delulu? I was.
If I could rewind time, I would extend myself some more compassion and give myself permission to be a little more carefree. And probably take a proper maternity leave.
Give this week’s episode a listen.

The first full episode is LIVE!! And yes I’m in the same garb because I recorded some back-to-back episodes before I went on vacation. Guess who forgot she was going on vacation (and therefore forgot to plan). Classic.
I’m spilling my secret sauce and sharing how I “do it all.” From slinging real estate deals and launching this podcast to motherhood and messy mornings, I’m sharing the one thing that allows me to do it all. Spoiler: I don’t do it all alone. I dive into the power of building your village - formal and informal - and why consistent, meaningful connection has been key to organically growing my business... and keeping my sanity.
Whether you’re a working parent, an entrepreneur, or a fellow sauce maker, this episode is for you. Grab a coffee. Let’s talk leverage and letting people in.
