In the first lesson when Gideon's story begins in Judges 6, we see God's people living in fear and poverty; their nomadic neighbors, the Midianites, have invaded their land and destroyed their homes, crops, and cattle.
As they cried out to God for deliverance, we learn the reason for Israel's sad situation: The people did evil in the eyes of the Lord; Instead of obeying God, they did not listen to him.
This week's lesson traces God's promises to Israel and the consequences of their failure to follow him. Their behavior is a reminder of our own failure to obey God.
This is the 1st lesson taught in a 7-week series in the study of Gideon by Priscilla Shirer. Join the ladies every week by listening here on our website. This lesson was taught at Mission Covenant Church on January 23, 2024.
