New Year, Healed Money Mindset: How to Start Understanding Your Money Story with Jasmine Lopez, Joy-Based Money Coach

#8: Most of us want to level up our money mindset and better understand our money traumas. Yet, oftentimes, we don't know where to start.

Jasmine Lopez, a joy-based money coach and founder of financial wellness brand, Mentally Mutually, shares how to take the first step in understanding our money mindset.

"Oftentimes a lot of the trauma in our lived experience is held in our body" she said. "An invitation for us is to pause and be able to say, 'I am going to give myself the permission to pause, so that I can connect with my body, so that I can identify, What are these triggers?' And here are some ways that I can move my body, talk through my body, even yell through my body to release some of those tensions and challenges we're feeling'".

Key Takeaways:

  1. Understand your money story and remove shame from it
  2. Question what capitalism conditions you to believe
  3. Take a moment to connect with your body when you experience a financial trigger or activation so that you can identify the next step
  4. Experience healing in robust ways: dancing, singing, eating in community, connecting to breath
  5. The journey to financial abundance is on-going, stay the course

Jasmine grew up in a single parent Latina home on the southwest side of Chicago. After filing for bankruptcy in 2010, Jasmine redefined what success looked like to her. From creating her nonprofit, The Firehouse Dream, to founding a financial wellness brand, Mentally Mutual, Jasmine continues to advocate for pay equity for herself, her family, and the community around her.
