Misteyre Creations is not just a podcast we are an archive of culture, history, folklore, and science. We have built a small gathering of museums, projects and websites who collect and preserve the mysterious creations of humanity and nature. We bring out the lost and the hidden with our podcast which is both educating and fun to listen to. We produce things we are interested in but want to know what you want to hear too. We have a website with our archive and store. Please check it out www.misteyrecreations.com. We do this out of pocket and any donations go a long way to keep us around.

The history of Drag in Theatre

History of Drag in Theatre

Welcome to Misteyre Creations. I am your host AJ and today we are talking about the history of drag in theatre. Drag is a polarizing subject these days but lets look at the history so you can learn for yourself. When we first though to do this episode we had expected it to be a 1 and done situation to support our friends in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We found however it to be a truly complex subject. It took us on a journey through all cultures and around the world. So this will be a multi part episode. In this episode I had the pleasure of talking to Tamara Burnett my sister in law, and a music teacher who specializes in theatre. One note; in a segment I say UK and should have said Britain sorry for the mistake. Please enjoy!

In talking to Tamara about drag in theatre; we found out about the struggles of teachers and students trying to play roles which require them to dig deep and work hard. It helped them learn about their craft and themselves. Tamara talked about how theatre helped the students build friendships and learn about one another in ways only the theatre could provide. Thank you Tamara for coming on with us and sharing your experience and understanding with us. I hope you all had fun and learned about what drag is and how it changed the world. I have many links in the notes for you to please follow them and learn more about Drag. Its a beautiful art form which must not be oppressed by idiot politicians with skewed points of view. It takes a strong person to do what people in Drag do and perform so we must support them in these times. Thank you all for joining us and please like follow and subscribe on whatever platform your following on.
