Dwelling on the past is like trying to drive forward while staring at the rearview mirror – you'll end up stumbling, maybe even crashing! God didn’t bring you out of it just so you could dwell on it, miss it, and keep reliving it. He has better waiting for you. Don’t prolong the great things that lie ahead by focusing on what was.
Sometimes I look back simply because I know what’s there, I miss it, I know what I’m going to get, and honestly, I can harp on how I could have changed it. When I look ahead, though I’m optimistic, part of me is still fearful simply because so many unknown factors lie ahead. But I’ve learned, and I’m still learning, that despite the unknown… one thing that is known is hope. And that’s what outweighs looking in the rearview mirror.
