Welcome to the Mind Your Skin podcast, the show that will help us understand the link between how we feel and how we look by exploring the relationship between the skin and mind.
From an early age, many of us focus on improving our skin via the products we put on our face, but science is suggesting we treat the skin and mind as one, paying equal attention to what we feel in order to change how we look.
Join Poppy Jamie - a mental wellness advocate, best-selling author, and happiness researcher as she dives further into the science and explores the latest thinking and ideas with leading experts to help us all become skin-tellectuals.
The Mind Your Skin podcast is brought to you by Erno Laszlo. The science of skin and mind as one. Since 1927.

On today’s episode of the Mind Your Skin podcast, I am speaking with the wonderful Dija Ayodele. Dija is a newly published author of the book, Black Skin: The Definitive Skincare Guide, owner of skincare clinic West Room Aesthetics in London and founder of the multi award-winning educational platform Black Skin Directory (BSD). Dija’s book investigates identity, traces the deeper and historical relationship between the beauty industry and Blackness and how we can create a fairer and more equitable beauty industry.
In this episode, we dive into her book, Black Skin and talk about how black women have had to consistently do extra legwork and face extra anxiety around skin care and accessing treatments. We also discuss Dija’s mission to empower through skin care and to revolutionise how women of colour access the beauty and skincare world so that they can feel seen and valued. Dija is a pioneer, entrepreneur, a skin expert and a true inspiration. It’s an honour to have her lead us through this conversation!
