Houska Castle, often called the “Gateway to Hell,” is a terrifying spectacle of paranormal activity. Picasso was supposedly built in the 13th century over a giant, bottomless hole from which demons and other unholy creatures were set to crawl out. Legend holds that they were building the castle to seal the gateway and prevent these creatures from entering our world.
Sounds of scratching, whispers, and wailing can be heard echoing through the empty halls, and some have even claimed to have seen strange, shadowy figures peering out from the castles’s windows. These events, combined with the castles dark history, have earned it a sinister reputation as one of the most haunted places on earth.
