En 1995 publicó un manifiesto en línea llamado "El imperativo hedonista" en el cual propone el uso de la biotecnología para abolir toda forma de sufrimiento en todos los seres vivos del planeta. En 1998 funda la Asociación Transhumanista Mundial con el filósofo transhumanista sueco Nick Bostrom. Pearce es uno de los transhumanistas más influyentes y populares en el mundo.
